The ashram which is also an 18 acre riverside Organic Farm is located in a peaceful countryside near Mysore, Karnataka in India. The location is within one hour drive to Kerala and Tamil Nadu, two other important states in South India with many tourist attractions.  AyurYoga Eco Ashram is rapidly emerging as the go-to destination for all aspiring yoga  practitioners and teachers from United States of America.

Its strategic location ensures that anyone going through physical and emotional detox makes the most of mother nature’s natural healing properties, and at the same time experiences spiritual nourishment. The place offers a panoramic view of the surrounding hills and valleys, and is away from all the hustle bustle of the modern-day life.

Apart from experiencing the best of ayurveda and yoga retreats, you can also explore the three states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka in your free time, as they’re all within one hour driving distance from the ashram. The weather is moderate throughout the year, varying between 68F to 90F. The cooler time between June to Oct. is best suited for people wanting to have more relaxed and chilled weather. While the weather between November to March is moderately hotter during the day time, with clear blue sky and amazing sunrise and sunsets every single day.

Programs offered

AyurYoga Eco Ashram offers one of the best yoga teacher training in India.

200 Hours and 300 Hours Yoga Teachers Training certification retreat in India

On offer are 200-hour YTT (Yoga Teacher Training) and 300-hour YTT programs covering traditional hatha yoga. Other than Asanas and pranayamas, this retreat  covers in-depth knowledge of yoga philosophy and psychology. Yoga Teaching skills taught in this retreat equip you with the ability to start teaching yoga immediately after the course.  

While the 200 hours program is meant for new teachers, the 300-hour program meant for advanced students, cover advanced kriyas, pranayams and asanas. The latter’s a highly challenging course meant to help practitioners take their yoga practice and teaching to a new high.

The Yoga Teacher Training certificate from AyurYoga Eco ashram is valid for registration as RYT (Registered Yoga Teacher) with Yoga Alliance in USA or UK. In the last week of the course, students are explained about and helped with yoga teacher registrations, insurance, taxation, medical release form and business aspects of teaching yoga.

Till date, more than 1000+ students from 40+ countries have completed their ‘Yoga Teachers Training’ program. At least 500 of them are already teaching Yoga in different countries.

 

Yoga Retreats

In this program you can opt for either the 14-day (7 hrs per day) beginner level Yoga Immersion Retreat, or the 14-day (9 hrs per day) intermediate/advanced level Yoga Intensive Retreat.

The former is about yoga basics and is meant for people wanting to start practicing yoga in their day-to-day lives. The latter on the other hand is for intermediate/advanced level practitioners who already know the yoga basics, but would like to explore more challenging pranayams and asanas, to take their yoga practice to the next level.

Ayurveda Retreats

Developed and taught by traditional Ayurveda doctors, this retreat features five different programs that help you make Ayurveda a part of your day-to-day lifestyle. These are:

  • Ayurveda Stress Management: Covering daily meditation practice, Ayurvedic treatment and yoga pranayama sessions
  • Ayurveda Rasayana Retreat: Rejuvenation therapy covering Ayurvedic massages, yoga, meditation, herbal steams, pranayama, oral medication and more.
  • Panchakarma Detox: Covering five detoxification processes for removal of harmful toxins and restoration of body’s natural constitution.
  • Weight Management: Featuring highly specialized Ayurvedic massages, oral medications and steam therapy.
  • Kerala Ayurvedic treatments: Customized Ayurvedic treatments meant for people diagnosed with different medical conditions.

Yoga and Art Therapy

It’s a 5-day art retreat that also covers yoga and aims at harmonization of body and mind through creative exercises, meditation, paintings etc. The idea is to help practitioners explore and better express their sub-conscious minds.

 

Infrastructure

The Eco-Ashram has been designed based on Permaculture principles, to provide simple accommodations and amenities that are comfortable enough for International students in India. The infrastructure is aimed to facilitate optimum engagement in transformational Yoga and Ayurveda practices.

There are a total of 35 rooms (with attached bathrooms and balconies), each offering beautiful views of the surroundings. While ten rooms are in the form of wooden cottages, the remaining are made with eco-friendly bricks. The size and provided facilities are same for all the rooms. All basic amenities like comfortable spring-beds, tables, chairs, power supply, western toilets, RO filtered drinking water, laundry machines, wi-fi etc. are provided to the practitioners.

 

Faculty

The Ashram’s admin staff and faculty are constantly engaged in delivering the best Yoga Ashram experience to international students in India.

The teachers are all of authentic backgrounds, coming from spiritual/monastic communities, thoroughly experienced in teaching Yoga and Ayurveda to international students in fluent English language.

The Teacher Training programs is conducted by a minimum 5-6 teachers dedicated to a group of 10-20 students. At least 3-5 teachers are always allocated to the class (in other retreats too) even if the number of students is lesser than 10. Teachers are mostly recognized as E-RYT 500 (Expert Registered Yoga Teacher) or E-RYT 200.

 

 

Potential

The 2016 Yoga in America Study conducted by Yoga Journal and Yoga Alliance revealed that yoga practitioners in the US increased to over 36 million, an almost 50% growth since 2012. The annual spending of yoga practitioners on yoga classes, accessories, equipment and clothing also rose to $ 16 billion - a $ 6 billion increase over 4 years. Going by the statistics, it is only natural that the demand for yoga teachers is going to grow tremendously in the coming years.
