Free buses in Singapore 2016

Authorities of Singapore on their Facebook page informed about intention to test free buses. Testing is planned for middle of 2016 year.

For buses tests authorities chose six kilometers long road. All the process will be under control of Institute for Information and Communication Research and the Alliance of Singapore and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the field of research and technology (Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology, SMART).

For this project the road will be equipped with security cameras and designed monitoring system. To keep track of important information (traffic, accidents and road works) will be used communication transmitters.

"Over time, we want to unmanned buses served routes on a schedule that will allow us to rely less on people," – was said in a statement.

The project will be launched in June. Totally government received six proposals from local and international firms, one of which will take place next year.

Buses and trolley buses are air-conditioned and can be without air conditioning - respectively, the fare on them will be different. Payment can be made to the driver, or you can buy a special electronic travel card, which is more convenient, as no change is given. Trolleys appeared in Singapore recently, their route is not big.
