Local orthodontists Wilson Orthodontics is excited to announce that it has added its Community Event Trailer to the lineup at the Laurel Summer Fest, to be held August 30 and 31 at Laurel Park. All of the trailer’s familiar features will be on display, including free ice cream and arts and crafts such as their trademark ”Smile on a Stick” activity for kids. More importantly (this IS Georgia, after all), the Wilson trailer’s televisions will air the best in football action over the Labor Day weekend, so partiers can have some pigskin with their barbecue.

“Wilson Orthodontics is proud to be a part of this community, and we believe in giving back,” says a spokesperson for the company. The trailer is designed to bring life to any party or celebration, and is available for community events of all kinds.

The Laurel Summer Fest is presented by Hall County and is coupled with the Hawgin’ On Lanier BBQ Competition sponsored by the Gainesville Jaycees. The festival features arts and crafts vendors and live music from various local acts, including spotlighted performers MamaDear on Saturday afternoon and Riverstreet on Sunday night. Food and beverages will be available for purchase, and there will be a children’s activity area with inflatables, field games, a splash pad, and other attractions for the younger set. Fireworks will end the festivities on Sunday night.

The “Hawgin’ on Lanier” competition draws more than 50 teams from all over the Southeast to vie for over $12,000 in prize money awarded for the best barbecue delicacies. The event raises funds for the Gut Check Program and the Empty Stocking Fund, programs helping the youth of Hall County. In conjunction with the barbecue competition, the Gainesville Jaycees are also sponsoring a 5K race, the “Hawgzilla Mud Run,” proceeds from which also benefit the Gut Check Program. Registrants for the race will gain free entrance to the festival and the barbecue competition.

In addition, the festival also benefits the pet adoption program of the Hall County Animal Shelter. Shelter staff will be at Laurel Park both days and will be offering on-site pet adoptions.

Laurel Summer Fest is open from 10-8 on Saturday and 10-10 on Sunday.

Cost of the festival is $10 for a two-day pass. Children under 12 will be admitted free.
