New App Revolutionizes College Sports Recruiting Process

Similar to LinkedIn for professionals as a tool to advance their careers, SportsconnectU is a tool for student athletes to advance from amateur and high school sports to the collegiate level. “SportsConnectU is the first app to provide an affordable way for student-athletes to directly connect with hundreds of college coaches,” says Britney Morgan, Co-Founder, SportsConnectU.

Now available in both Apple’s App Store and the Google Play Store, SportsConnectU allows for student athletes to connect and send film to hundreds of college coaches right from the palm of their hand. In turn, college coaches have direct access to a live, real-time database of student-athletes.

To ensure that everyone has the opportunity to showcase their talent in front of college coaches, the app is only 1.99/month. "We want to ensure that every student athlete can afford it, no matter their circumstance,” says Ivory Young, Co-founder, SportsConnectU.

The app idea came from the growing concern of parents and athletes who get lost in the shuffle due to their inability to afford travel ball and recruiting services, as well as the lack of time and knowledge of the overall recruiting process.  

There are over 7 million high school athletes in the U.S.  About 2% of them receive a part of the $2.7 billion in scholarship money awarded by division I and II schools each year.  With fierce competition, youth sports has become a $7 billion dollar industry, with a chunk of money being spent on travel, events, fees and equipment.
