Vocab Tunes Biweekly Dance Contest Begins May 15th

The biweekly Vocab Tunes’ dance contest will begin for school kids (preschool to 8th grade), aged between 5-14 years from 05-15-2017 to 05-28-2017

A report of US Education Department showed continuous erosion in vocabulary skills among young students across the nation. The report reveals a steady decline of vocabulary knowledge among school kids for the past 50 years in spite of a huge amount of money being spent on it. Making a change to this dreadful situation, Vocab Tunes’ online learning programs play a significant role by making kids aware about the greek and latin root Words thereby expanding their English vocabulary.

To make learning an easy and fun activity, Vocab Tunes has come up with an exciting concept of biweekly dance contest for schoolchildren. The sole aim of this competition is to make kids fall in love with learning new English words while making some creative moves to the select educative songs of Vocab Tunes.

The first biweekly dance contest begins may 15, for kids of ages between 5-14 years. Students from preschool to 8th grade can participate in the contest. They can choose any of 21 Vocab Tunes’ songs and can submit their dance video clips from 05-15-2017 to 05-28-2017. Winner will be selected through online voting procedure, which will begin from 05-29-2017. One lucky winner of each biweekly contest will be awarded a cash prize of $100.

In a recent interview, Vocab Tunes’ author Dr. Manisha Shelley Kaura points out that “lack of root knowledge in school kids is the reason behind the decline of vocabulary skills. A Xavier University, Cincinnati alumnus Manisha says, “singing and dancing is a whole mind/body experience, also students are more interested in learning through music and songs other than monotonous classroom activities. Therefore while preparing our Vocab Tunes’ programs we focused on making it a melodious learning activity.”

Manisha along with her father Dr. S.R. Kaura, a practicing family physician in Southgate, created a four-level K-12 vocabulary program to help kids enhance vocabulary. The father-daughter duo has even authored two vocabulary textbooks named ‘Rockin’ Root Words’ (Prufrock Press, 2010) to help young minds enrich their vocabulary skills.
