Activities to Share was set up by two people with twenty years of experience in the field of Health and Social Care Training. They have therefore accumulated a wealth of first- hand knowledge about the needs of older people living in care and also about the requirements of nursing and residential homes, day centres and hospitals who providing the care and support.

Their extensive work over the years with Activity Coordinators, Care Staff, Occupational Therapists and Care Managers highlighted the fact that a one-stop-shop which provided practical, adult appropriate, stimulating activity products for elderly people, particularly those with dementia and including those with learning disabilities was much in demand. They became well aware that a lack of meaningful occupation or contact through shared activities can easily result in a dramatic loss of wellbeing and an increase in challenging behaviours.

They started with a few care home activities including reminiscence boxes and a life story book and now can offer over 300 products to suit a range of abilities.
Their experience in the care sector and four years hard work has resulted in the business now being able to offer a comprehensive range of activity products that perfectly suit the needs of older people, in particular those with dementia. They have also been able to develop their own bespoke products including date and weather boards, menu boards, life story books, blankets, table top games, reminiscence sets and music. Every product is designed to provide stimulation for elderly people whether that be sensory, social, physical or mental.

Activities to Share understand the complexities of dementia and have an intrinsic understanding that activities need to be tailored to individual preference and choice, (not all people with Alzheimer’s like to do puzzles, some like to a singalong, others don’t and not all older people like to reminisce) However as each product has been tried and tested with seniors from all backgrounds at all abilities there will be something for everyone.

Hospitals and OT departments are now providing activities for older people as patients are staying on the wards for longer. Activities to Share supply most NHS Trusts in the UK and can offer the NHS a wide range of resources that comply with hospital infection control standards but at the same time provide a practical solution to helping nurses, carers and volunteers engaging with their patients.

They are also actively working alongside NHS Trust Hospitals in their work to provide dementia-friendly environments. Their range of wall-mounted panels and wall murals are becoming increasingly popular.
