Paraffinic oils are generally light in color and have high viscosity range, higher aniline & flash point. These oils are particularly good in applications needing low color with stability or in high heat environments. 

Further, the segmentation of the market is divided by types, such as solvent extracted and hydrocrack paraffinic oil. Solvent extracted paraffinic oils are normally 90-95 VI oils that have high flash points, good color constancy, low volatility, and a saturate level of 75-93 VI. Hydrocracked paraffinic oils have a slightly higher flash than solvent extracted oils with slightly lower volatility, clear in color and a saturate level of 98-99 VI. Highly refined oils produced by blending of judiciously selected base stocks manufactured by the distillation, solvent extraction & dewaxing of high paraffinic crude. They have low solvency and high aniline point with low aromaticity, excellent colour & thermal constancy.
