John is the third youngest attorney in northeast Florida to be Board Certified by the Florida Bar. He is the youngest to be BOTH AV-Preeminent Rated by Martindale and Board Certified in northeast Florida. Board Certification allows John to be called an expert and specialist in civil trial law.

To be Board Certified in Civil Trial Law, one must:

Personally try many cases. John has tried many cases in Florida, Georgia and Alabama. Board Certification rewards those who “walk the walk.” You pay the same contingency fee, why pay the same for someone who merely “talks the talk”?

Pass a peer review. The Bar asks other lawyers to comment on whether you meet the standards of professionalism of a Board Certified attorney. Reputation matters.

Keep learning. The Florida Bar requires expert lawyers to undergo advanced level training, above and beyond that required to keep a law license.

Pass a full day examination. John passed an exam on his first try, testing his knowledge of the Rules of Ethics, Evidence and Civil Procedure.

An AV-Preeminent Rating is determined by Martindale, which has been accumulating lawyer ratings since the 1800’s. An AV-Preeminent Rating is the highest available and is “a testament to the fact that a lawyer’s peers rank him or her at the highest level of professional excellence.” It is solely based on the anonymous ratings provided by lawyers and judges in the lawyers jurisdiction. According to Martindale, it is based on:

Legal Knowledge – A lawyer’s familiarity with the laws in his or her specific area of practice.

Analytical Capabilities – A lawyer’s creativity in analyzing legal issues and applying technical knowledge.

Judgment – A lawyer’s demonstration of the salient factors that drive the outcome of a given case or issue.

Communication Ability – A lawyer’s capability to communicate persuasively and credibly.

Legal Experience – A lawyer’s degree of experience in his or her specific area of practice(s).
