More People Than Ever Are Turning To Matchmakers

Matchmaking may not be the world’s oldest profession, but it certainly is up their with matchmakers even appearing in Biblical times (See Genesis)! But like all the old professions (selling and spying included), matchmaking has had to make a move into the modern world with internet and dating apps by the ton. But that isn’t the only impact that the modern age has had on matchmaking. Janis Spinel, the founder of Serious Matchmaking said, “When I have a clairvoyant premonition about a woman for one of my men clients, they want to know her name right away, Before I can even send the woman’s picture to my client, they’re either researching who she is on Google, Facebook or Wikipedia.”

A rise in the divorce rate and the influx of millennials reaching adulthood is fueling interest in matchmaking services among Americans. According to the Divorce Statistics Information, The marriage breakup rate in America for first marriage is 41 percent to 50 percent;the rate after second marriage is from 60 percent to 67 percent and the rate for third marriage are from 73 percent to 74 percent. The right women for men using matchmaking services tend to be well-educated, well-groomed, upscale, professional, nonsmoking and athletically inclined, according to a matchmaking expert.

Although online dating sites are popular, only 5 percent of Americans who are in a marriage or committed relationship say they met their significant other online, according to a Pew Research Center survey.

“A lot of ultra high net worth men have been pushed to the matchmaking platform by dating online because it becomes a job and you have to literally be online 24/7,” said Janis Spindel who is the founder of the matchmaking firm, Serious Matchmaking.

Matchmakers are increasingly cashing in and profiting from customers who have become disillusioned with online dating sites like Match.com and PlentyofFish.com and mobile dating apps like Tinder. That is because not every potential mate’s photo that is posted online is authentic or even recent and some are often used for fraudulent activities.

Online dating sites have created a situation where people seeking love and relationships do not trust one another, and most people are looking out for individuals who they can trust and build a future with.

A professional matchmaker said men and women are beginning to trust people less than they were in the past and are now outsourcing their search for love to matchmaking firms thus further increasing the popularity of matchmaking.

Online dating sites seem more like a job because you virtually have to be online always in order to find someone. People in major cosmopolitan cities and regions are very career driven and career focused and because of the lifestyle that they lead and where they live, love can get put on the back burner.
