Scientist And Inventor Launches Kickstarter Campaign To Fund Book On Technology Solutions

Ron Smith, scientist, inventor and author, has officially launched a Kickstarter campaign to garner widespread support and financial backing for a global warming solutions book titled "Yes We Can!"

Rockville, MD - Ron Smith, scientist, inventor and author, has officially launched a Kickstarter campaign to garner widespread support and financial backing for a global warming solutions book titled "Yes We Can!" With this book, the author aims to describe and discuss a large scale system engineering program resulting in technology solutions to global warming.

Global climate change caused by human actions has progressed in recent decades from a scientific hypothesis to the subject of international treaty negotiations. ‘Yes We Can!’ attempts to provide a top level plan and describe a proposed point of departure for technology development supporting an integrated system response to arrest global greenhouse gas accumulation.

The author expects to lay out and articulate ‘best practices’ for large scale engineering programs and provide planning examples that; (i) Clearly state program goals in order of importance, (ii) Identify the concerns of all stakeholders in advance and recognize that no stakeholder is powerless, (iii) Identify bottlenecks and the resources and incentives that must be afforded at each stage along a critical path to assure timely program completion and (iv) Lay out a point of departure wherein specified goals are achieved and risks are mitigated.

“We have recognition. We also have a goal – avert a 2 degree C global temperature rise that is predicted to occur by 2050 unless we take appropriate actions,” Said author and project creator Ron Smith. “Publication of the book ‘Yes We Can!’, is the first step in an open ended program that can lead to a solution.”

While still in the development stages, when complete, ‘Yes We Can!’ will examine five separate areas that the author feels are critical to achieving a comprehensive global warming solution; transportation, energy, materials, security and system integration. With the help of funding from Kickstarter, the author proposes to discuss each of these supporting technologies individually in the book’s chapters, along with the rationale for identifying them as necessary preconditions to the most effective 2 degree C solution.

“Yes We Can!” should be read by…those who dread global warming as an inevitable apocalyptic catastrophe [and] those who believe that we can push the necessary work off for another generation. The Global Warming Solution counters both complacency and fearful paralysis with a well-documented point of departure,” says Smith.

Everything from films, games, and music to art, design, and technology. ‘Backers’ who support a project on Kickstarter get an inside look at the creative process, and help that project come to life. ‘Backers’ of the ‘Yes We Can!’ Kickstarter campaign who pledge $15 or more will receive a Global Warming Solution Paperback first edition, while those that pledge $30 or more will receive an autographed Paperback first edition.
