Founded by Shavonda Smith, the Atlanta-area B2B business focuses on six services: cost segregation, the FICA Tip Credit, private reinsurance, Section 125 plans, tariff and duty recovery, and PEO referral services. The firm connects businesses with PEO providers; it is not itself a PEO. These strategies may help eligible businesses accelerate deductions, recover certain payroll-tax costs, manage risk and structure employee benefits more efficiently.
The website gives business owners a single place to review the firm’s six service areas and learn what information may be relevant before a conversation. Cost segregation generally concerns depreciation timing for eligible real estate, while the FICA Tip Credit may apply to certain employers with tipped employees.
Private reinsurance and Section 125 plans address different areas of risk management and employee benefits. Tariff and duty recovery focuses on identifying potential overpayments, and the PEO referral service connects businesses with independent PEO providers.
"We are in the B2B business helping others save money that they never knew existed," Smith said. Smith is a Black woman entrepreneur who also owns and operates a woman-owned commercial cleaning company. Her experience managing business expenses informs her practical focus on helping entrepreneurs identify overlooked savings and make informed decisions about taxes, benefits and business planning.
Before launching Shavonda the Tax Strategist, Smith built her leadership experience at Cox Automotive, where she led a call center team and took part in the Emerging Leadership Program. Her work included the Manheim project, process improvement and presentations to stakeholders, employee development and goal setting, and her team earned Benchmark of the Year and other recognition.
Through the program, she learned from leaders including Chip Perry, Jim Framchie and Richard Cox, and heard Salesforce founder Marc Benioff present the Salesforce platform. Smith said the experience strengthened her commitment to helping people develop, meet their goals and grow into leadership roles. Inspired by the passion and grit she saw in those leaders, she made the same approach her own.
