MELBOURNE, VIC – April 16, 2026 – As skyrocketing property prices drive a record-breaking surge in home renovations and extensions across Melbourne, True Blue Building Inspections is warning homeowners that "internal" builds are becoming a high-risk zone for non-compliance. Today, the firm announced the launch of a specialized Renovation & Extension Audit service, specifically designed to bridge the gap between architectural vision and structural reality.
Unlike new builds on vacant land, renovations require integrating new structures into aging foundations—a process fraught with technical challenges that are often glossed over by contractors facing tight deadlines and material shortages.
"A renovation is structurally much more complex than a new build because you are dealing with unknown variables in the existing house," says Christopher, Founder of True Blue Building Inspections. "We are seeing a disturbing trend where 'minor' renovations are compromising the structural integrity of the entire home because critical load-bearing requirements or waterproofing standards are being ignored to save time."
True Blue’s Renovation Audit service provides a "Safety Net" for homeowners, focusing on three high-risk areas:
Structural Integration: Ensuring new extensions are correctly tied into existing footings and rooflines to prevent future subsidence or cracking.
The "Invisible" Connection: Auditing plumbing, electrical, and waterproofing transitions where the old home meets the new.
Contractual Compliance: Verifying that the work completed matches the quality and materials specified in the building contract.
With a 25-year track record in domestic and commercial construction, Christopher provides an independent "Second Set of Eyes" that levels the playing field for homeowners who may not have the technical knowledge to challenge their builder’s decisions.
