Canadian Halloween Costume Retailer Announces Warehouse Expansion of its warehouse facilities in Complexe du Canal Lachine on St-Ambroise Street in Montreal.

"This is our third expansion in the last six years. We simply need more space.” With over 7,000 SKUs of costumes, the company is adding on average 1,000 new SKUs a year.

But online Halloween Costume stores are facing growing competition of their own. Long gone are the days when a few online stores were operating in the Halloween market. “We always had to compete with US websites but the competition is getting tougher, particularly over the last two years.” Increasingly, US websites are fronting their operation with a Canadian domain, although their inventory is still being shipped from the US.  Beyond that, Amazon and Wal-Mart are now offering costumes on their Canadian websites and aggressively undercutting on price and shipping promotion. 

Canadian based Oya Costumes is still confidently facing the future. “There are more players, big players, but the Halloween costume market is still growing and we believe a speciality player can compete with the big market place. But you can never stay still, otherwise you will fall behind.”
