For the last two decades or so, the BPO industry in India has been catering to a large number of businesses from around the world from diverse industries like insurance, retail, banking, finance, etc. This to some extent explains a large number of BPO companies, of all sizes and capacities, in India.

Outsourcing to India is commonly labeled under ‘cost-saving’ but the right term is ‘economies’. The business logic is pretty simple – why would you buy something costlier from one seller when there’s another seller with the same set of offering at economical pricing.

Being bilingual or multilingual has a positive impact on problem-solving skills, multitasking and the decision-making abilities of the speaker. There have been studies on this subject.

But a major concern of the western world with outsourcing work to India is the quality of the output. Strangely, that is yet another kind of ‘labeling’. How a company ‘outsources’ i.e. the process of outsourcing itself is a far bigger determinant of whom the work is outsourced to and what conditions, parameters, and standards are set for operation, performance, and output rather than simply tilting any outsourcing decision to be based on perceptions.
