UK optics designer to release revolutionary patent-pending anti-glare attachment for sunglasses

Bid adieu to squinting under the sun forever and hail the visual comfort provided by this anti-glare sunglass attachment.

Sunclip is a breakthrough patent-pending anti-glare sunglass attachment that helps to limit harsh sun rays from reaching the eye when a person looks upwards to the sky.

Forget annoying squinting under the sun while playing tennis or baseball. Forget wearing sweaty sun caps while going out for cycling. A UK-based dynamic optics designer, Tony Messiou, has developed a revolutionary anti-glare attachment for sunglasses that can successfully eliminate glare and squinting when one has to look up to the sun. Titled “Sunclip," the patent-pending attachment also relieves one from wearing sun caps and ending up all sweaty.

The FIRST-of-its-kind, Sunclip can be defined as a next-gen anti-blinding and anti-glare attachment for sunglasses that will be helpful for outdoor sports sessions like tennis, baseball, or cycling. The attachment comprises of 3D shade, which incorporates a special tube arrangement. The tube allows slide adjustment to suit users’ eye-to-eye distance.

Interestingly, Sunclip is not just for those who wear sunglasses. It even comes with prescription inserts that easily accommodate prescription lenses.

It all started with Tony’s observations in his tennis club. An avid tennis player, Tony plays regularly and well-acquainted with the problems of playing under the sun. He noticed that most of the players tend to squint under the sun, which leaves them struggling with their high shots. Many of the players prefer not to wear baseball caps or sun caps as they make the head sweaty and uncomfortable. Such woes inspired him to come up with a revolutionary solution, and thus, Sunclip was born.

“Tennis is mostly played in the daytime, and the players are often seen struggling with their high shots under a scorching sun. Bright sun rays make your eyes squint, and that does not allow you to see the ball properly, which eventually hampers your performance. Sunglasses are not enough to totally limit the rays from reaching the eye when you look up while a baseball cap can make you sweaty. This is where our pathbreaking patent-pending IPR-protected Sunclip comes in”, stated Tony.

“There is a fixation point in tennis while hitting overhead shots. The main idea was to limit the harsh rays from reaching the eye with the help of a shade that can successfully block the light surrounding the fixation point. And this idea forms the very essence of Sunclip. The attachment also assures extra side shading to block all-round glare surrounding the fixation point- yet without hampering the view of the scene in front.

Sunclip promises a convenient operation. The attachment clips on sunglasses easily and can be taken out in just a snap. The entire package also comprises of anti-slip attachments as well as an adjustable nose bridge for the best fit.

“Sunclip is great for any activity under the sun. You can also use indoors when you are working under bright floodlights.”

The attachment has been tested a number of times and has received extremely positive response each time. According to Tony, Sunclip duly outperforms conventional sunglasses as it has the unique capacity to block overhead light- with minimal impact on straight-ahead view. Besides, the whole attachment is lightweight, scratch-proof, and extremely durable.

“Sunclip will also work as day time sunlight  anti-glare blocking for cyclists and  for drivers.”

At present, Sunclip is in the prototype stage, and Tony will soon launch a crowdfunding campaign to gather funding for its manufacturing. Sunclip as a product will be officially launched sometime in 2020.  A new company will be formed as a separate entity to the current optical design company.
